As you go through life, there will be times where loving yourself will feel like the hardest thing to do. Sometimes the people around you will make you feel unworthy of love and belonging. And the most painful part is that sometimes those people are the ones who are the closest to your heart.
But you know what, maybe it’s okay. It’s okay if they make you feel that way.
Because at the end of the day, loving yourself is not their business — loving yourself is always focused on you, not them.
“When you finally start loving yourself, it also reveals those people who are willing to walk that road with you.”
Loving yourself reveals those people who understand and see your value. They will never make you feel sorry for loving who you are and who you’re not. The right people will respect you for saying no because they want you to make decisions for yourself. The right people will let you grow, simply because you deserve to work on yourself every single day.
“When people leave you, never beg them to stay, instead, let them walk away.”
Loving yourself is choosing yourself first — and choosing those people who are willing to see that naked version of you.
I can tell you that it’s hard sometimes. When you’re rejected it makes you feel like something is wrong with you because people are always asking you to be someone else — and to completely forget your value. But I think that it’s better to be alone than trying to fit in but feeling dead inside.
“It is painful to go around in this world and not having a sense of self-love and value.”
You don’t need to be with someone or possess things in order for you to love yourself. It doesn’t work that way. The source of self-love is from within. Yes, it is coming from the inside — and you are the source. And when you understand that, you can say to yourself that even when people hurt you, it doesn’t take away the fact that you are always capable of loving and being you.
Listen, you don’t have to stay when you know you have to leave. You don’t have to continue hating yourself because others are blind to see that you deserve more. It is an act of knowing your value to be able to say, “I don’t have to be here because I deserve better.”
See, you have a choice to choose you over them. You always have a choice to pour the love and attention that you’re desperately asking people to give you. You are worthy of that.
